All objects with a temperature higher than absolute zero are constantly emitting infrared energy to the surrounding space, and their radiation characteristics, radiation energy size, wavelength distribution, etc. are closely related to the surface temperature of the object. Conversely, by measuring the infrared energy radiated by the object itself, its surface temperature can be accurately measured, which is the mechanism of infrared radiation temperature measurement.

The human body is also radiating infrared energy to the surroundings, and is not affected by the environment. It is only related to the amount of energy released by the human body. Therefore, the surface temperature of the human body can be accurately measured by measuring the infrared energy radiated by the human body. The human body infrared body temperature sensor is designed and manufactured according to this principle.

Non-contact infrared temperature measurement technology does not need to touch the object to be measured, avoiding infection, burns and other dangerous or inaccessible objects, especially sanitary facilities and medical items that will not be contaminated or damaged. The surface temperature of objects can be measured quickly and accurately. It has the advantages of fast response, high accuracy, low cost, long life, and safe use. It plays an important role in product quality control and monitoring, equipment online fault diagnosis, and safety protection.

Ⅰ. The type of infrared body temperature sensor

According to infrared wavelengths, functions, and application requirements, infrared sensors are generally divided into three categories: infrared gas, infrared image, and infrared body temperature sensors. Among them, infrared gas sensors are used for gas detection.

Sensors used for infrared temperature measurement are divided into four categories: refrigeration, non-refrigeration, contact, and non-contact according to the mechanism and use environment. Refrigeration is used in military equipment and facilities, large-scale engineering facilities, industrial processes, environmental protection and monitoring and other ultra-long-distance, high-definition systems; contact is used for normalized continuous temperature detection of special objects, medical diagnosis and treatment equipment, temperature measurement, electronic skin and so on.

At present, infrared body temperature sensors can be divided into thermopile type, pyroelectric type, diode type, thermal capacitance type and thermistor type according to different materials used for energy conversion.

Ⅱ. Thermopile infrared body temperature sensor

The thermopile infrared body temperature sensor is a pyro-infrared sensor, which is a device composed of a thermocouple group. The infrared thermopile temperature sensor is composed of an infrared filter that can pass through a specific wavelength range, an infrared receiving thermopile chip and an internal environment comparison temperature reference.

Any individual with temperature will have infrared radiation, and the radiation power increases with the increase of the surface. Based on this thermopile, the emission power can be measured and the temperature of the object can be determined accurately, which can detect both dynamic signals and static signals. At present, the common infrared body temperature sensors used in ear thermometers and forehead thermometers are thermopile type.
