The core component of the Alpha Model 178A series differential pressure sensor/transmitter is a capacitive pressure sensor, composed of a stainless steel diaphragm and a fixed electrode that together form a capacitor with capacitance varying under applied pressure. Leveraging Alpha’s proprietary patented technology, the sensor and its dedicated detection circuit are meticulously engineered to ensure excellent temperature performance and long-term stability.

The Alpha Model 178A series features a front panel made of SS304 stainless steel and includes a one-touch clear button for ease of use. The product complies with the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) Level 4 (IP-65) standard, providing robust environmental protection.
The Alpha Model 178A differential pressure sensor/transmitter can measure both differential and gauge pressure, offering standard output options of 0–5V, 0–10V, and 4–20mA, with customized outputs available upon request. Its accuracy at room temperature is available in three grades: ±1.0%FS, 0.4%FS, or 0.25%FS. The device supports temperature compensation across a range of 4 ℃ to 77 ℃, with temperature effects maintained below ±0.05%FS/℃.
Owing to its excellent performance-to-price ratio, the Alpha Model 178A is widely applied in fields such as HVAC, environmental pollution control, clean engineering, medical instruments and equipment, oven pressurization and furnace pressure control, natural gas and pipeline network monitoring, underground ventilation, and power plant wind pressure monitoring.
